What is genuinely cheaper, and why

Current Offers

This page has no countdown, no seat counter and no struck out prices. Those devices exist to make you decide before you have thought, and this agency does not use them. What follows is the four honest reasons a trip costs less, and which of them apply right now.

What this page refuses to do

You have seen the other kind of offers page. A clock counting down, a line saying three rooms left, a price with a line through it and a bigger number above it, and a note that the sale ends at midnight.

Almost none of that is true, and where it is true it is true in a way that is designed to stop you comparing. A clock that resets when you reload is a lie told by software. We do not run any of it, and if you find any of it on this site it is a mistake and we would like to be told.

What is left, once the theatre is removed, is genuinely useful, because travel really does cost different amounts at different times for reasons you can check.

The four real reasons a trip costs less

What is actually true this month

These are conditions rather than offers, and they change. Every one of them can be checked against any other source, which is the test we would apply to somebody else's offers page.

  • Caribbean and Mexico rates are at their lowest of the year, and that is hurricane season. From August into early October the risk is real and the resorts price for it. If your dates are fixed and you cannot move them, this is not a bargain, it is a gamble with your only week off. If you can travel at short notice and accept the risk knowingly, it is the cheapest week on this site.
  • Alaska is nearly finished for the year. Sailings run to September and stop. What is left now is the end of the season, and what is being sold at a discount is usually a cabin nobody wanted. Next summer's good weeks are already selling.
  • Europe in late September and October is the best value we sell. Portugal and Italy both work: the weather is workable, the queues shrink, and the rates fall from their August level without falling into winter.
  • Nothing on this site has a deadline attached to it by us. Suppliers sometimes hold a rate until a date, and when that is true your written proposal will say which date and who set it. We will never be the ones inventing one.

Why we do not run a discount code

A code implies we control the price. We do not. What an agency controls is which supplier gets asked, which room category is quoted, and whether the figure you are given has everything in it or is missing the transfers.

We add no booking fee of our own, so there is nothing of ours to discount. The saving available to you comes from the timing and the choice, which is what this page is about.

Ask what a week actually costs

The only way to know what your dates cost is to ask about your dates. It is free, it commits you to nothing, and if the answer is that you should go a month later, that is what the answer will say.

Asking is free and ties you to nothing. There is no card field here or anywhere else on the site, and this office is never the party that gets paid.

What you send sits under the terms of use. Which of the boxes above travels further than this desk, and for how long it is held, is written out in the privacy notice.
