Asked before booking
Questions About Booking a Trip
Twelve questions people ask this office before they commit to anything, answered at the length the answer actually needs. Several of the answers are that we will not do something, or that you should do it yourself.
Twelve questions
Does it cost anything to ask?
No. A quote is free and it commits you to nothing. There is no consultation fee, no research fee and no deposit to be quoted.
This agency also adds no booking fee of its own to what a supplier charges. We are paid a commission by the supplier when a booking completes, which is set out on how it works.
Who takes my money?
The supplier does. The airline, hotel, cruise line or tour operator takes the payment directly, on their schedule, and their name appears on the payment.
This site takes no payment at all. There is no card field on any page of it, no account to open and no wallet. If a page that looks like this one ever asks you for a card, it is not us.
Are you licensed or bonded?
No, and no license number or bond number appears anywhere on this site. Idaho does not license travel agencies, and this company has not bought a bond.
Four states, California, Florida, Hawaii and Washington, register businesses that sell travel and hold traveler money. This company is registered in none of them, which is why it holds none of your money.
Are you the cheapest?
We do not claim to be and we do not offer to match a price. Both would be promises about a market this office does not control.
What we do instead is show you what a figure is made of on pricing, so you can compare it honestly against anybody, including against booking it yourself.
How far ahead should I book?
It depends entirely on the trip, and the honest answer differs more than people expect. An Alaska sailing in a good week needs the previous autumn. An escorted tour departure fills months ahead. A Caribbean week can often be arranged inside a month.
The general rule that does hold: the further ahead, the more choice, and the less likely you are to be choosing from what nobody else wanted.
Can I book just a flight?
Usually we will tell you to book it yourself, and we would rather say that than take the work. A single simple flight is the one thing in travel that is genuinely easy to do alone.
Where a flight is worth asking about is when it is part of something else: a connection to a sailing, a long haul with a tight change, or a trip where a cancellation would cascade into hotels.
What if the price changes between the quote and the booking?
Airfare in particular moves daily, and a quote is live only for as long as the supplier holds it. Your proposal says how long that is.
If a price has moved when you come back to it, we re quote rather than book something different at the old figure and tell you afterwards. The figure you agree to in writing is the one that stands.
Do I need travel insurance?
Nothing requires it, and this office neither sells it nor advises on it. What a policy covers is written in the certificate an insurer issues, and that document is the one to read against a supplier's cancellation schedule.
Two cautions worth more than the recommendation: it has to be bought early to cover a condition you already know about, and the exclusions matter. Read the certificate, not the summary.
Will somebody telephone me if I fill in the form?
Only if you asked us to, or if a question genuinely cannot be settled in writing. There is no telephone campaign attached to this form.
One line asking not to be contacted again ends it permanently.
Do you have reviews?
Not on this site, because there are no real ones to publish yet.
Inventing reviews, buying them or displaying a rating nobody awarded is the most common dishonesty in this trade, and an empty section is the only honest alternative to it.
Can you book a trip if I am not in Idaho?
Yes. Travelers do not have to be local and most of the work happens by mail and telephone regardless.
What matters more than where you live is which airport you are starting from, because everything on this site is priced from Boise and a different origin changes both the routing and the figure.
What happens if something goes wrong while I am away?
The supplier's own emergency contact is on your document, and for something happening at an airport or a hotel at midnight, that call is faster than this office.
Then tell us. We pick it up when the office opens and act for you in writing, which is the part of the job that earns the commission.
